Our environmental commitment isn't a box-ticking exercise. It's built into how we operate every single day: preventing pollution through proper drainage management, handling waste legally and responsibly as a licensed waste carrier, and reducing emissions through modern fleet investment and smart route planning.
We work to the standards set by the Environment Agency, the Health and Safety Executive, and UK environmental legislation — not because we have to, but because it's the right way to run a business that operates in communities across the country.
Protecting Our Waterways
Blocked and damaged drains don't just cause flooding — they allow pollutants, oil, and debris to enter the watercourse, contaminating rivers and streams. Our drainage teams work around the clock to keep the UK's drainage infrastructure flowing properly.
From road gully cleaning to emergency flood response, every job we do prevents contaminated water from reaching natural waterways. We operate in accordance with the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and Environment Agency guidance, ensuring that everything we remove from the drainage system is handled and disposed of properly.
Responsible Waste Handling
As a licensed waste carrier, we're a critical link in the UK's waste management chain. We handle liquid waste, industrial effluent, septic tank contents, and hazardous waste — and every single load is documented, tracked, and delivered to a licensed, permitted facility.
We follow the waste hierarchy: prevention first, then re-use, recycling, recovery, and disposal as a last resort. Every waste transfer is recorded with a Waste Transfer Note or Hazardous Waste Consignment Note, and we verify that receiving facilities hold the appropriate environmental permits before we drop anything off.
Reducing Our Carbon Footprint
Running a fleet of HGVs means emissions — that's unavoidable. What we can control is how efficiently we run. Our fleet is built around modern Scania Euro VI engines, which produce significantly lower NOx and particulate emissions than older generations.
We use route planning and load consolidation to reduce unnecessary mileage and empty running. Our drivers are trained in fuel-efficient driving techniques — smooth acceleration, reduced idling, optimal gear usage — and we monitor fuel consumption across the fleet to identify where we can do better.
Investing in the Future
We're continuously monitoring developments in low-carbon and zero-emission vehicle technology, including electric and hydrogen HGV platforms. As the technology and refuelling infrastructure mature, we'll assess viability for integration into our fleet.
At our depot, we've reduced energy consumption with LED lighting, improved insulation, and efficient heating systems. We're also exploring carbon offsetting opportunities where direct reduction isn't yet technically feasible.

- All waste transfers are documented with Waste Transfer Notes or Hazardous Waste Consignment Notes as required, with copies retained for the statutory minimum period
- We verify that all receiving facilities hold the appropriate environmental permits before transferring any waste
- Our waste carrier registration is maintained and renewed in accordance with Environment Agency requirements
- Vehicles used for waste transport are appropriately specified, maintained, and cleaned to prevent cross-contamination between loads
- Spill response equipment is carried on all waste transport vehicles, and all drivers are trained in spill response procedures
